초기 공원, 교량, 포켓공원 가로설계, 환경조각 등 다양한 작업을 통해 누구에게나 열린 공간, 기능이 고정되지 않고 가변적으로 작동하는 공간, 비워내며 기능을 부여하는 공간배열 등을 탐구했다.

Through early works such as parks, bridges, pocket parks, streetscapes, and environmental sculptures, I have explored spaces that remain open to all—spaces where functions are not fixed but operate flexibly, and spatial arrangements that stay empty yet invite new uses.

공원의 작동방식이 건축에 적용하는 것을 지향한다. 자연적인 건축을 추구하는 것이 아니라 공원에서 발견되는 사회적인 행태가 유도되도록 느슨한 기능과 공간을 배열하고 표상화한다.

Our aim is to apply the operative logic of the park to architecture. This is not a pursuit of “natural” architecture, but a structuring of loose programs and spatial compositions that allow the social behavior discovered in parks to unfold within architecture.

그 지향은 분명하다. 거리로 열리고, 건축 내부로 연장되며 거리와 관계하며 소통하는 건축, 다양한 사람들이 다양한 목적으로 교류하는 건축. 공원 같은 건축의 궁극적 목적은 계층화되고 사유화되어가는 도시공간을 이어주고 확장하여 평등과 상생의 도시로 거듭나게 하는 데 있다.

The orientation is clear: architecture that opens onto the street, extends inward in dialogue with the street, and creates encounters among diverse people with diverse purposes. The ultimate goal of “Architecture Toward Park” is to connect and expand urban spaces that are becoming increasingly stratified and privatized, so that the city may be reborn as one of equality and coexistence.
